our story

For the love of all things bread related...

 

Founded in 2018 by Josh Freed, Freed's Biscuit Company is a product of Josh's love for all things bread related.

 

Josh was born into a Jewish family from Queens, NY (later relocating to Rockville, MD.) He was first introduced to cooking by his Father who owned and operated a catering company and a personal chef service. After attending Johnson & Wales Culinary School in Rhode Island, Josh went to work for the family business, servicing a star-studded client list that included pro athletes from the Washington Nationals and Washington Wizards.

Over the course of his culinary career, Josh worked with restaurants across the globe, including numerous award-winning restaurants in the USA, Hungary, and Canada. After moving back to the D.C. area, Josh served as Training Manager for a growing D.C. restaurant group, where he managed operations training  for 16+ restaurants. 

All it took was one rainy morning of making homemade biscuits and gravy for Josh to remember his love for the kitchen.

A week later he was signed up for the local farmers market.

And the rest, as they say, is history...
